Digital and physical products
I am Vladimir Ermashov, a design student at HSE Art and Design School. I develop digital services and expressive physical products. My work connects a user need with a product idea, a clear presentation and a concrete outcome. Here are three projects at different stages of development.
Tutor — Study help grounded in your textbook

User need
A learner can get stuck on one step of a homework problem. A final answer alone may leave that step unexplained. Tutor is designed to help the learner work through a question in the context of their study materials.Product idea
Tutor lets learners ask with text, a task number or a photograph. It explains a solution step by step and supports follow-up questions about an unclear part. The product also brings together study notes and practice activities in the browser.
Outcome and current stage
Tutor is available as a web service. Its public entry page demonstrates a short worked example and leads into the product.The central product idea is to keep the learner’s question and explanation close together. Luchik — A character with a physical presence

User need
How could a person who cannot keep an animal care for a pet through conversation and play? I explored a character whose physical body, screen face and responses could make everyday interaction feel more personal.Product idea
I developed Luchik’s rounded form, soft colour palette and screen character alongside short interaction scenarios. The concept includes conversation, rock-paper-scissors through gesture recognition, a word-guessing game and following a toy. These scenarios guide the next prototype.
Outcome and current stage
The work includes a digital construction model, renders and partially printed components. Voice input processing and room scanning with lidar have been checked separately. A complete physical prototype that combines the functions still needs assembly and testing.The next step is a simple demonstrator that can receive a request, respond and return to waiting. How can a recognisable historical portrait become a playful object for the home? Iskra! explores the change in meaning when a formal bust becomes a candle.Product idea
I developed a series of bust-shaped candles, made with a mixture of natural wax and stearic acid. The object keeps the recognisable silhouette of a portrait, while its material and use introduce a different, everyday context.
Outcome and current stage
The project presents a physical candle series, product photographs and a price sheet. It shows the idea as an object, with materials and a presentation prepared for potential buyers.The project connects a simple product idea with its physical form and the way a customer first encounters it.
